About me

Welcome to my sewing blog! I’m Ashley Riley from London, UK. My journey into sewing began with personalizing my wardrobe due to my petite frame, as finding clothes that fit can be quite a challenge. Occasionally, I find children’s clothing that fits, which is cost-effective, though limited in style. This DIY fashion hobby has been a transformative experience for me.

The adventure started with a pair of black jeans that fit perfectly. I wanted to add a unique touch to the back pocket. With inspiration from my partner, who has an embroidery machine, we designed a skull using embroidery software. After carefully detaching the pocket, I embroidered the skull onto it. My next step was acquiring a second-hand sewing machine. Despite a bit of a learning curve, I successfully reattached the pocket. The result was inspiring, complementing the distressed style of my favorite jeans.

This ignited my passion for sewing, leading me to scour tutorials on every aspect of the craft. YouTube became a treasure trove of information, introducing me to PDF patterns and fabric knowledge. As my need for fabric grew, I navigated numerous websites, though prices often seemed steep. I stumbled upon Facebook Destash Groups, where fellow sewing enthusiasts sold surplus fabric.

Becoming acquainted with fabrics, patterns, and sewing machines, I found myself sewing almost daily. I shared my creations on Facebook and Instagram, which led to invitations from companies to test their sewing patterns. My work even graced the front page of Vintage Made Magazine, fueling my enthusiasm further and providing a glimpse into the fashion industry’s creative process.

I established this blog to document my creations and inspire others who may be interested in similar sewing endeavors. With a growing social media presence, I regularly post updates on my latest projects, sneak peeks, promotions, and more.

Join me on this creative journey towards a more personalized, DIY, and stylish wardrobe. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for assistance—I’m always eager to help.

Happy sewing,

Ashley Riley x
