The Mila Paneled Woven Skirt By Ellie and Mac Patterns

Meet the beautiful new Mila Paneled Skirt from Ellie and Mac patterns. Mila is designed for flowy woven fabrics but I wanted to try a fabric with a bit more structure so I went for this black & white corded gingham polycotton from ABC Fabric and I love how it turned out. I feel it really show off the design of this skirt. Mila comes in 2 different length midi and maxi length, the option of splits, and the waist tie and pockets are optional. It's a pretty quick pattern but as I was pattern matching that took the longest to do in this sew. 🤣 I paired my Mila with the Modern Juliet top, also a Ellie and Mac pattern.

Midi & Maxi Length Options – Create the Mila that works perfectly for your wardrobe and personal style. Choose the versatile midi length for an easy everyday skirt or sew the maxi version for a longer, elegant silhouette. With two lengths included, Mila transitions beautifully from season to season.

Flattering Paneled Skirt Design – Mila's paneled construction creates beautiful shaping and gives the skirt its distinctive look. The seam lines add visual interest while creating a polished silhouette that's easy to dress up or down.

Stylish Front Slit(s) – The front slit adds movement, comfort, and a modern finishing detail to the skirt. It's an elegant feature that works beautifully with both the midi and maxi lengths while making the skirt comfortable to walk and move in.

Optional Inseam Pockets – Because a great skirt is even better with pockets! Add the optional inseam pockets for practical everyday wear, or leave them out when you prefer a streamlined finish.

Two Waistband Height Options – Personalize your Mila with your preferred waistband height. Choose between two options to create the look and fit that feels best for you and works beautifully with the tops already in your wardrobe.

Designed for Woven Fabrics – Mila is designed for woven fabrics, giving you plenty of possibilities for creating skirts with different looks and feels. Experiment with lighter fabrics for beautiful movement or choose fabrics with a little more structure for a crisp, defined silhouette.

The Sydney Dress By Designer Stitch Patterns

Have you seen the new Sydney dress from Designer Stitch patterns. Sydney is perfect for your flowy woven fabrics, I used this beautiful viscose from www.abcfabric.co.uk to create my dress. I used the shorten length but also comes in a longer length as well, short sleeves and pockets. You do have the option to make longer sleeves as well. Has a button up bodice to easy to get on. I love how this turned out, and thinking with some tights and boots will make a great winter dress as well.

Design Details:
Sydney features a beautifully drafted two‑piece shirt collar crisp, clean, and perfect for showcasing your favourite cottons, linens, or yarn‑dyed stripes.
The front shoulder princess panels create gentle shaping through the bodice, while the separate button wrap adds a tailored finish and makes construction approachable for confident beginners and seasoned sewists alike. A back yoke anchors the shirt‑style design, offering structure and a smooth fit across the shoulders.
Below the bodice, Sydney flows into a two‑layer gathered tiered skirt, creating soft movement and a flattering drape whether you choose the 60cm or 80cm length.

Sleeve Options
Sydney includes three sleeve styles, making it a pattern you’ll return to again and again:
Long sleeve with placket + cuff for a classic shirt‑dress look
3/4 sleeve with soft elastic hem for relaxed ease
Short sleeve for warm‑weather simplicity

Each option is thoughtfully drafted for comfort, movement, and a polished finish.

Lengths & Fit
Choose between 60cm and 80cm lengths to suit your style from a breezy everyday dress to a more dramatic tiered silhouette. The bodice offers gentle shaping through the princess seams, while the skirt provides relaxed movement without bulk.
